Besides the air we breathe, water is the most fundamental source of life. Water creates life, water is life. Water means healthy living, happy living. For Viva con Agua de Sankt Pauli this is the primary motivation for their activities – the funding and implementation of water projects around the world and thus enabling people to access clean water. And this is why we at DKDNZ love the idea of supporting this project as much as we can.
Today is the International World Water Day and for this reason, we decided to dedicate our first TETRIS:SPECIAL w/ Frittenbude this coming Thursday to this very urgent cause. 20% of all entries paid go directly to Viva Con Agua, allowing them to supply people in needy countries with fresh and clean drinking water.
By the way: Viva con Agua sees itself as an open network – everyone can join in and do his bit! For example, you could buy the Special Viva Con Agua ticket for Thursday: Pay CHF 15 (instead of 10) to enjoy Frittenbude and M.T. Dancefloor at Nordstern and donate 5 bucks for fresh water at the same time. A nice opportunity to do something good, isn’t it?
Much love,
DKDNZ. & Viva Con Agua
Advance Sale: TETRIS:SPECIAL w/ Frittenbude at PonyhofHere it is, this week’s Weekend Guide, featuring a nice variety of music styles and locations to guarantee four exciting days. Yes, this weekend is going to last long, and hopefully not longer than you will.
TETRIS will provide the kickstart with two of my favorite Zurich-based DJs (and people in general). Ryan Riot is the godfather of the iconic party series Discodust hosted at Exil and known for his well-sounding and uber-danceable electro style. Being an editor at Rockstar Magazine, he’s confronted with various music styles on a daily basis and he surely knows how to introduce his broad music understanding into his sets. Ryan is supported by Jack Pryce, an ambitious youngster with a rare feeling for the right sound at the right time. Finest back-to-back electro tunes assured!
I really wish I could split myself in two on friday. While negating a booking of Gesaffelstein 6 months ago, I know really would love to see him at Pfingstweide. The fact that Renaissance Man and Sinden are also playing at this date only adds to this wish. And support acts like The Stereo Youth and DiscoD make parts of me die a little.
But of course there’s a reason I can’t listen to this buildup of excellent bookings. And this reason better be good: It’s called Ça Claque, it’s happening at Nordstern and it’s going to be a night full of UK Funky, Futuresoul and Tropical Bass. No one less than Roska is lashing down his innovative club tunes on the crowd, supported by The Famous Goldfinger Brothers.
We draw 2 tickets for each KILLER & Ultraviolence at Pfingstweide and Ça Claque at Nordstern – just like this post and leave a comment below, explaining why you should win and where you’d like to go.
I suggest starting the Saturday Night Fever with a drink and a little Modern Soul with Soul Sociedad at Cargo Bar and then hop over to I Love My Pony at Kuppel.
And if you are in Zurich: Don’t miss Svenskis B-Day-Bash at Revier with Katakombot, Svenski, Midnight Express and Cosmic Disco Ufo. A huge line up in a relaxed atmosphere. Although relaxed is a relative term here – once the four (!) lasers light up in the quite small former night club, you can’t really distinguish its dance floor from an Ibizan macrodisco.
Win 2×2 tickets for I Love My Pony and KATAPULT. You know how it goes: Post your comment below and enjoy the party for free!
In Zurich there isn’t really much going on this sunday. All the more, in Basel you can feel the foreshock of the Morgestraich, the kick-start to the famous Basler Fasnacht which starts on monday at 4am. To celebrate this happening, Nordstern presents Carneval with Josh Wink. The Techno legend from Philadelphia is exclusively flying in for this huge gig and you really shouldn’t miss this.
And again, we draw 1×2 tickets for Carneval with Josh Wink. I’ll leave it to you figuring out how to get them..
Would you care for a break from the three most beautiful days of the year? Join us for the Mittelstraich on tuesday night at Nordstern! At 11pm, just after the last Guggemusig played their Schranz in the city, we open the club for an exclusive night with the family and enjoy finest Techno from Oli K, Fran-G and Critical Mitch.
Win 2×2 tickets for Mittelstraich. Leave your comment, blabla.
So, this was it. A huge program with a huge jackpot for a huge weekend. I hope you enjoyed it.

So here it is – our first official Weekend Guide. First of all: I promise, I’ll try not being too biassed in my propositions. After all it’s just about your perfect weekend, isn’t it?
The Famous Goldfinger Brothers are hosting their first night at Nordstern. Dudes Party will be a fresh approach with a funky party series in an otherwise more Techno-oriented club. The guys were playing tonight at TETRIS and presented a very appealing DJ set to a fabulous crowd appreciating their skills. And apart from the sound they will host their very own legendary White Russian Bar. A must for everyone in Basel.
And for the Zurich crowd: Visit Dario Dessiena at Urban Art Studios at Langstrasse in the afternoons and then head over to SUOL Nacht with Fritz Kalkbrenner live at Hive Club.
On saturday there’s only one place to be: ULTRAVIOLENCE hosted by our fellow DJ and producer duo The Stereo Youth at EXIL in Zurich. Ultraviolence is known as one of the last events presenting really good electro. The special thing this time: Cryptonites will play their newest productions, supported by a live visual show from me, Le Funky Monkey.
And of course, don’t forget: Seth Troxler will be at Nordstern. Just a hint for everyone missing the last train to Zurich or being too wasted to drive.

It’s gonna be an awesome weekend!

Way too much time has passed since the last MAYHEM with DatA, D.I.M. & TAI and the Stereo Youth in October.
But here it is, the next MAYHEM, featuring Homework (Made To Play/Exploited, Amsterdam), Das Glow (Boys Noize/Institubes, Paris), Cryptonites (Freakz Me Out, Basel) and FRQNCY (DKDNZ, Zurich) at good old Nordstern: This Saturday, 5 February 2011, 11pm sharp!
Check out the teaser and the Facebook Event Page – and last, but not least, join us on Saturday! May the MAYHEM be with you!
PS: While I was working on this teaser, Mario got a little bored and tried to magically transform his boredom into creativity. So he tried hard to make a stencil of our Logo out of foamed plastic. Here’s the masterpiece, note the spelling..

Wow, this first half of 2010 really was an intensive time. We’ve thrown a few fantastic parties, had two great label premieres with Mayhem and Moi, Toi et le Roi, featured two articles in 20 Minuten, got the up-and-coming DJs Eric Fox, Roca and the DEVICE crew on board, played with Ed Banger, Coco Machete, Drop da Bomb, Ghetto Hype and many others and got to know so many nice and fresh people. We’re certainly psyched about the past few months. Here’s a big up for all of you who supported us in any way!
Don’t worry, it’s not over yet – we’re already racking our brains for the next things to come. Here’s what’s up for the last days this season:
And of course we are going to host a few nifty open air parties during the summer – but that’s future talk ; )
The DJs and VJs will use the summer break to max out their creativity and you can count with some exciting things coming next season for sure.
And don’t forget to visit this blog during the silly season, we’ll have you entertained.
Party on, see you soon!

Dear party people
I feel honored writing this article. And no, that’s not just another flowery phrase. I’m really, really happy that our premiere of Moi, Toi et Le Roi was such a success. We honestly didn’t even plan to break even this time, it was meant as a gift to the scene – and the present has been thankfully embraced.
We’d like to thank all you for making this unbelievable night possible – and kindly ask you to drop us a line if there was anything you didn’t like.
And there’s also a big thank you left for R3SET and STU who played two amazing live sets, the Electric Zombies who succeeded in rocking the lounge floor and of course to our bombastic residents FRQNCY and DEVICE. Last but not least, we’d like to thank B-Movie Diskomurder for trying everything to be at our party – unfortunately he couldn’t play his set because of the volcanic ashes, but we’re sure he’ll do us the honor at a future event.
We’ve prepared a few pictures from last Saturday and will upload them to Facebook in a few days, so you can tag the hell out of them. Big props to Smizzo for the photos!
Again: Thanks a lot for this great night and see you on June 5 at the next MAYHEM!
