No Reason
Don’t you find it strange that we can’t see the air around us? Why should I pose such a question? For no reason. Why does a tire in the middle of the desert come to life? For no reason.
The film Rubber by Quentin Dupieux aka Mr Oizo is about a tire called Robert who comes to life and enjoys to destroy things around him. Quickly he discovers his telepathic powers and uses them to blow up crows, rabbits and heads, always under the observation of a sensational audience. Then he meets Sheila and falls in love with her, but unfortunately she don’t notice the handsome tire. Anyway, while there is still one spectator left Robert continues his killing spree and the police is right after him.
Critics had divided views on Dupieuxs work, but if it’s now a fiendish good marketing strategy for the album release or a masterful tribute to the “No Reason Philosophy”, the movie convinces with his brilliant pictures and a great soundtrack. YOU SHOULD WATCH IT!

Rave review
Last weekend started with a unusual act. Why unusual? Because it’s difficult to compare the guys of Schluck den Druck with someone else. It has to do something with the electronic stuff they have absorbed from the original spring of bass and circulates now in their veines. Anyway they rocked the Nord* and after their live show, it continued with the beloved Jimi Jules who delighted us once again with an extraordinary set. Right after the Nord* has closed we went on to a private after party and concerning some circumstance i got way too drunk… Well i managed it somehow and woke up in my own bed with a little headache. Justifiably i had to chill Friday and so i killed my time with watching movies.
Saturday evening i watched the new movie Rubber from Quentin Dupieux with some good friends. Really recommendable for those of you who like it bizarre and who like the sound of Mr Oizo and Gaspard Auge. But more of this in the next post. After the movie we went to the Hinterhof where Kenton Slash Demon had a live gig. This guy from Copenhagen creates a great sound where you easily can loose yourself. Support came from Féline and B- Movie Diskomurder and to top everything off Suffix showed us their skills for great visuals.

Nordic hard dance meets tropical native sound
In a time when bangers are getting more and more commercial it’s quite difficult to find really good music which isn’t just a poor copy of already existing stuff. The label Sound Pellegrino, founded by Teki Latex and Para One, stands for hard stuff which is creative and groovy and minimalistic music which isn’t boring nor serious.Their last release is a demonstration that there are still some inventive heads around who are concerned about delivering us some music pearls.
Victor Watel a.k.a Panteros666 is exactly one of those. He grew up in the cold North of France surrounded and influenced by a strong Hardstyle and Jumpstyle community. A couple of years ago he started experimenting with electronic music and created with a mix of tropical dancehall, African house, South American dance music and his special addition Gabber and Jumpstyle a distinctive new sound.

Surrealistic view on death and rebirth
I wanted to show you this much much earlier, but sometimes it can be hard to find the motivation to just sit down and typing a few words. Maybe you already know this track, because it’s nothing new. Anyway! Last summer the scissor sisters released their album “Night Work” with the track “Invisible Light” on it and yeah it’s a question of taste but form your own opinion.
Scissor Sisters – Invisible Light from CANADA on Vimeo.
Last december they published the clip to it from Nicolás Méndez and in my opinion it’s a interesting surrealistic work, which shouldn’t be missed, just like his first music clip for El Guinchos “Bombay”. Clearly this one looks much more expensive, as Méndez got hired by Partizan and so he had a way bigger budget than for his last clip. He totally understands to create a vision with a flood of pictures which are on one hand beautiful and on the other absolutely disturbing.
Boys Noize remixed the track. Check it out!

R3SET
Last week we started 2k11 with the Sexinvaders and TSY. This Thursday will continue with no one less than R3SET from Strasbourg.
Not quite a year ago R3SET rocked for the first time the Nord*. They had just published Addiction, which made the 1st place on Hype Machine in only one day. In the course of last year the Duo has separated and both focused on their own projects.
Through his experience in classical and then rock music Lionel had a revelation by listening to Daft Punk. Now he creates with all his influences and his gadgets an unique and captivating live sound.
For support we’ll have the well-known FRQNCY and Digital Human.
